I was so excited to read this because I heard that there will be mermaids and also, I haven't forgotten about what the author told me during an interview. She said that there would be a new character and she is badass! The story contains the right amount of fantasy, adventure and action. I really admire the author's imagination and writing style. It must be difficult to write a series about collecting stones to retrieve a part of your missing personality and make the books different from one anot [...]

This is the fourth installment in The Elementals series and as I closed the book a word popped into my head: Gritty.I've been on this journey with Ka through four books now. I've watched her change and evolve, to fight and hold her resolve. Now with only one more book to go (oh my god! September needs to get here quick) I am antsy. I am anxious. Is the 'big bad' going to win?The Imminent Darkness has been making the rounds. All the different dimensional lands and now the colony of Xon 9 are unde [...]

Wow. Wow. WOOOOOOThe Water Queen is Ka's attempt to find the fourth stone in the Land of Water. Sloan is by her side once again, and they both sense something is amiss when they arrive to the castle. We gain another fantastic character in this story, Cerise, and I really love her so far. We also get another side of Ahna, and I have to say, I didn't like it. Ka is really growing into such a strong character, and her development is never lacking. I love how much these characters grow and rely on e [...]

5/5 StarsI love Jennifer's writing style so much. I have been lucky enough to have been on her ARC team since the beginning. I feel horrible that this time around it took me so long to read this novel. We always get a recap of the previous novel. But it comes through as informational and quick rather than seeming like a recap. I think it helps that the book is told from Ka's POV. It gives it more of the feel that Ka is still trying to sort through everything that has been happening to her.In this [...]

***I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***HOW??? I don't know how she does it, but this series just keeps getting better and better. I seriously love Ka. She is such a strong main character and she just keeps developing with every story. How can you not love her? And Sloan?? LOVE HIM!In this instalment, Ka and Sloan head to the Land of Water (which I have personally been looking forward to the most) where they meet Ka's aunt Tullia. Something is clearly amiss rig [...]
